Creative Bed Options

I have been searching for a full size bed for over a year now.  The only full size beds that I have found have been in the children's section of most stores.  I placed a full size bed frame in my study/guest bedroom last year to accommodate my visitors.  Since I have't found anything yet, I decided to remove the make shift headboard that is currently in the room and replace with something that would compliment my new comforter set that I purchased at Hemisphere (my favorite store).  While moving mirrors around in my home I came up with a great idea! "Use a mirror as a headboard!"  Take a look at the outcome! This will definitely work out until I find a bed that will catch my eye!

How to Assessorize Your Home?!

One of the most popular questions I get when decorating is, “How do I accessorize my home”?  First, you must have a common theme and color scheme in the home.  If your theme is old world Italian with a color scheme of amber, moss, brown and green, stick to that theme it will make your home more harmonious, having a continuous flow.  Keep your color scheme and stick to that theme when purchasing accessories for your home.  When you’re out looking at accessories, consider using larger more impressive pieces, which again should repeat your theme and color scheme.  Take a picture when you purchase your items, they are usually displayed in the store with like items to catch your eye.  Most retail merchandisers group like items together to attract buyers.  This is a good way to select your accessories.  Take a look at a few merchandising ideas below.

Moosi's Resale and Redesign

I can not believe how much my design style has changed! In my 20's I loved contemporary design style, Early 30's I was in love with the country style, my late 30's I liked Tuscan now in my 40's I am in love with Traditional style and Shabby Chic!!  I am launching my new business Moosi's Resale and Redesign! I got the idea from a few friends who love the way I refurbished a few pieces of furniture.  I started asking for furniture being thrown out.  I began to store them in my garage and work on them at my leisure.  Now I am addicted!! I am posting a picture of a chair I purchased for $5 at a resale shop.  I am gonna name her Jacki,  I'm not sure what color I want to paint her yet.   For now Jacki found a home in my foyer.  She is dressed in black damask and feathers.  How lovely!  I had to find her a few friends, along came the two candle holders purchased at a garage sale, Kevin and David will be their names.  I just love a little bling so I came up with the idea to attach the crystal bowls on top of the candle holders to enhance the beauty! Sookie! Sookie! I am in love, instant foyer enhancer!

Since, I was in the foyer near my formal dining room I realized I hadn't decorated my table for Valentine!  Valentine's Day is a special holiday when people express how they feel about one another. Not just for lovers, Valentine's Day can be enjoyed by all. I had to get into the spirit of things by decorating my dining room table for Valentine's Day.  Take a look at the outcome!

2011 Kitchen Trends

Kitchens are becoming known as the new family room.  Kitchen's are not only for cooking daily meals but used also as the entertaining room of the home.  Islands and bar areas are becoming more popular for families with children to do their homework and empty nestor's to entertain.  It's also a place for family and friends to congregate over a cup of coffee, tea or snacks.  Breakfast rooms are also being used as formal dining rooms.  These are the perfect rooms to gather everyone together.
Another trend becoming popular is the "Simplistic Style".  Minimalism not only help keep the cost down, but also creates sleek lines making your kitchen more elegant and contemporary.  Stainless steel appliances, white or painted cabinets, and stone flooring are just a few ideas for that perfect minimalist kitchen.

Mexican Buffet

Most Texans love to eat Mexican or Tex-Mex food.   When you think of Mexican food tamales, nachos, tacos and fajitas come to mind.  These foods are usually considered fast or comfort foods.  They are not usually used as a meal for a formal affair.  Adding a twist to the traditional dishes and serving meals in chafing dishes would give this informal meal a formal flair. Choosing Mexican food for your next event would not only be inexpensive but will be a delicious menu items for weddings or any special event.  Take a look at some wonderful choices with a twist like Spanish flavored scalloped potatoes, fajitas, Spanish rice, Salad bar and fajita chicken beast with Spanish cream sauce.  Contact Cookie Hudson Design & Catering to discuss a menu for your next special event.
